An interest in information technology and subsequent further studies at Cape Technikon paved the way for Ian towards a 20-year career dealing with and providing services to the SME market.
After being employed as a computer consultant, he was quickly promoted to support manager and after that became a partner in the Cape Town software agency. His role at the company comprised of selling and implementing software management systems in the pharmaceutical and retail industry across the Western Cape, helping business owners control the daily running of their operations.
He understands how to streamline business processes and maximise returns on investments. He has gained a large amount of experience dealing with smaller retailers as well as more major franchises and multi-nationals. His experience in business dealings include pharmacies, building material suppliers, automotive industry, food and hospitality, general dealers and manufacturing.
Also, he has, bought, managed and sold various businesses including two computer retail outlets, a coffee shop in Constantia Village and a Kauai franchise. This has exposed him to all aspects of owning and managing a business including budgets, forecasting, staff issues, and landlords.
His problem-solving abilities coupled with many years’ experience dealing with a wide variety of different businesses has ensured that he has a sound understanding of business in general.
